Reviews

Good band, good record.

I never paid much attention to this band when they were around, but upon listening to this album, I wouldn't mind hearing more. I don't speak French, so the lyrics are lost on me, however I understand this is not a right-wing political band like many others on the label. This is an Oi! band, with a familiar traditional Oi! sound. The sound quality is somewhat typical for Oi! bands of the time, not the greatest, muddy, but I like that unpolished sound in an Oi! record. There is some good drumming here, though it's obvious it was done on an electronic kit. The guitar sound is at times more punk than Oi! with a strong Steve Jones influence. When it comes to the vocals on an Oi! album, I generally prefer British of German bands, their vocal inflections just suit the style more to me. French vocals don't always land right. Oi! and by extension RAC, works best if harsh and abrasive, which the French language is not. On this record the singer makes it work though. After listening to this album, I'm interested in hearing more from this band, though it's not an album I'd put in my regular rotation. Perhaps if I could understand the lyrics I'd put it higher, but as it is I give this a solid 3 out of 5.
